Supportive Housing Week is a coordinated, national effort to show members of Congress what supportive housing looks like in their communities and why it works. This toolkit is here to help you share those moments in a clear, consistent way.

Important Notes
- All toolkit materials are publicly available and free to access, no sign-up required.
- 🎁 Incentive: Free swag is available for the first five sites that submit verified confirmation of a scheduled site visit with a member of Congress.
Before You Post
- Tag CSH so we can uplift all posts
- Use the hashtag #SupportiveHousingWorks in all posts
- Keep language simple and direct
- Focus on outcomes: stability, health, cost savings, community impact
- Avoid political framing (keep it about people and results)
- Add your location when possible
- Add photo/video whenever possible
- If you include photos of people, including members of Congress, make sure they are comfortable being included
Photo & Video Guidance
We encourage a mix of:
- Candid photos: Natural moments (walking tours, conversations, interaction between staff, residents (with permission), and guests)
- Posed photos: Group shots, welcome moments, photos with signage or at the building entrance
Photo Tips
- Show the space (units, shared areas, services in action)
- Include people when possible (with permission)
- Capture real interaction, not just handshakes
- Take both wide shots and close-ups
- Portrait orientation works best for most platforms
Video Suggestions
Short, simple videos can help bring your tour to life.
- Record brief walkthrough clips (10–30 seconds) of the property
- Capture natural moments during the tour (conversations, pointing out features)
- Film a quick welcome or closing message from a staff member or partner
- If appropriate, capture a short quote from a visitor about what stood out
Video Tips
- Keep videos short
- Use natural sound, no need for heavy editing
- Speak clearly and keep messages simple
- Vertical video works best for all platforms
- Aim for 1–2 clips per visit you can share the same day
Optional Add-Ons
- Post a quote from staff or a partner, and capture a photo/video of them
- Share one clear data point about your program
